Arjan is a security guard at the Met.
Captain Singh emigrated to the US with his family in the late 80’s, despite his desires to remain back in India with his grandparents. Punjab will always be home to Arjan, even after learning English, attending Bronx Science, and getting a degree from City College. Arjan’s father, Satish, wanted him to take over the taxi medallion he worked hard to buy, but Arjan decided he wanted something far more hands on (and far less stereotypical). He was hired in 1995 as a security officer for the Metropolitan Museum, and gradually worked his way from the parking garage to the Main Floor security staff. “The Moonstone” was the first special exhibition he managed security for. Arjan was performing an inspection at the time of the murder/robbery. Victor Tuzcay, the guard who was slain along with the three other bystanders, was someone who had been working for Arjan for over five years. Arjan is both horrified and traumatized by the death of his friend, whom he wants to avenge in a very old-world way.
